Maybe One Day

She always thought she was strong,

He broke the wall she built,

And taught her things in life,

Giving her the best memories she would wish for.

She holds on to those memories,

Even when he isn’t there with her,

It hurts her and she cries,

But she finds the strength to move.

She hopes to catch a glimpse of him,

Everywhere they’ve been together,

Hoping that he’ll come back,

To make everything better again.

Every morning she wakes up,

Praying that it was just a dream,

That it was just a bad nightmare,

Then she realizes that he’s really gone.

She wanted to hold on and never let go,

But he was slipping and she couldn’t do anything.

She wished she could’ve done more,

Been a better person for him.

She can’t take the next step,

But his voice keeps reminding her,

That she has to and that she can,

Even without him there.

One day when it stops hurting,

She would smile again,

The one that only he could make her do.
